Thomas and Alexandra got married legally in Switzerland but wanted to do something different for their actual wedding. So they decided to have a Salar de Uyuni Elopement half way around the world. In order to capture that day for them they flew me in from Lima for a full day of shooting in the amazing Uyuni Salt Flats that I had visited for a Wedding Photo Session before. This time we could even speak in German 😀
The train cemetery is a good stop to have a different scenery before arriving at the Salar. During January, February and March rainfalls leave a thin layer of water over big parts of the salt flats. The surface of the water acts as a giant mirror and you can get amazing reflections. These photos were taken in Novermber with hardly any water left. But we did our best with the few puddles we could find and this first image even has won a couple of international awards! Before having a lunch break in the middle of the salar we took some fun photos with props Bride and Groom bought with them. Like a huge 2m high wedding cake 😀
The shoot ended at the Incahuasi Island – a rock full of big Cacti. I already had to go to the airport to catch my flight back. Here are some of the photos of this Salar de Uyuni Elopement.
