I have not yet completely realized that we are in 2016 already and my start into the new year is getting better and better. The Wedding Photojournalist Association just published their latest contest results (Q3 2015) which in their own words include “gold standard images from some of the hottest wedding photojournalists the world has ever seen”. I am so happy that 2 of my photos from last year made it among the winners.
The first image won in the category “WEATHER” where you should somehow include the weather of the wedding day or its effect in the photo. This image was taken at a hot destination wedding at the beach in northern Peru. The room where the bride was getting ready had no AC and the bride only had a fan and a handkerchief to fight the heat.
Judges Comment: I like the expression on the bride and the framing of this image. Although she is hot, she is still smiling and trying to make the best of it. Nice behind-the-scenes image.
The other photo won in the category “TASTE”. It was taken during a rather fun wedding reception when they started to invite shots of Jägermeister if you wanted one or not…
