Last year Audrey and John traveled through Peru and thought it would be nice to have to have their engagement photos taken while they are in Lima. They found me on google and we took some photos in their Hotel and in the streets of Barranco. Several months later I received a message that they are going to have a Riviera Maya Destination Wedding in Mexico. Once they had found a location and had everything planned out we talked over Skype and they booked me.
This short trip definitely was exhausting but still felt like vacations. Thanks you for picking me amongst all the options! Thank you and everyone at the wedding for making me a part of this adventure, for making me feel like another guest rather than a vendor – you guys rock!
I arrived friday around noon in Cancun where Audrey and John had hired a shuttle, cold beer inclusive, to pick me up and take me to Puerto Aventuras. My hotel was just across the street from the beautiful Hacienda del Mar which they picked as their venue. After a quick shower I walked over to meet themĀ and their families. Later I came back to take a few photos at the rehearsal dinner and after dinner join them for their pre-wedding Halloween party which was 80s / Wrestling themed. Of course I had my costume as well š That was one fun evening resulting in some crazy photos…
So the actual wedding day probably started for most guests with a slight hangover. I arrived at the Hacienda when Audrey, her mom and her sisters as well as her mother and sister in law were getting ready. So the Styling Trio from Playa del Carmen was quite busy.
Audrey’s Wedding dress had a touch vintage and she wore the veil her mother had worn when she got married. The succulent bouquet was a perfect fit for the location as well as the decoration and color theme. The ceremony took place under palmtrees in the garden of the Hacienda del Mar. As bride and groom together have 3 sisters and 3 brothers it was easy to pick bridesmaids and best men. One of their closest friends accepted the honor to officiate and did a great job. The ceremony and the vows were very emotional with everyoneĀ fighting tears.
One image from this wedding even won an ISPWP award in the category “Emotional Impact”

The beautiful garden, even though suffering from recent major gardening efforts was a great backdrop for some family and couple photos before heading to the beach. Since we were behind schedule and we knew that we were having an after wedding photo session the next day we kept the session short though and joined the cocktail at the pool before everybody moved to the inner patio for dinner. The wooden vintage tables were beautifully decorated with roots, flowers and succulents to repeat the color theme bride and groom had picked. After some funy and some emotional speaches from the closest family, John officially opened the dinner by cutting a roasted suckling together with Audrey who did not look as eager as John š After the delicious dinnerĀ the place was transformed into the dance floor but when just dancingĀ became too boring for some of the grooms best friends they lured him outside and then grabbed him and threw him into the pool. Trying to get the best angle of this I put myself right where all the water spashed to and ended up almost as dripping wet the John š You can judge yourself if that was worth it below.
The wedding day ended with a really cool drum show, limbo and Chinese lanterns that were fun despite the fact that only 1 out of 10 made it into the air. The next day around sunset we met for a short after wedding photo session. Even though we did neither jump into the waves nor got dirty I am more than happy with the results that complete the previous portraits really well:
